Preparation for All Methods:
- Begin by placing paper pulp in a bowl.
- Gradually add water and PVA glue, mixing thoroughly to achieve a consistent mixture.
- Once the mixture is ready, it can be used for all three methods described below.
Method 1: Moulded Designs
- Take the paper pulp mixture and add it to your chosen mould.
- Allow the mould to dry for 24 hours.
- Once fully dried, remove the design from the mould. You can now use the design for your desired project. In this example, we used alphabet shapes (HOME) to create a decorative piece by placing them on an MDF board.
Method 2: Paper Pulp Jewelry
- Add your desired color(s) to the paper pulp mixture and mix well.
- Shape the coloured pulp into beads of your preferred size.
- Thread the beads onto a skewer and allow them to dry for about an hour.
- After an hour, carefully remove the beads from the skewer and let them dry completely for 24 hours.
- Once dry, use the beads to create your own jewelry piece. In this example, we've made a bracelet.
Method 3: Sculpting
- To create a sculpted bowl, first wrap a bowl with plastic wrap or cling film.
- Using the paper pulp mixture, sculpt your bowl shape over the wrapped bowl.
- After an hour, carefully remove the paper pulp from the mould and refine the shape, smoothing and adjusting as needed until you're happy with the design.
- Let the sculpture dry for 24 hours.
- Once dry, you can paint the bowl to your liking.
And that's it! Three simple and creative ways to use paper pulp in your projects.
