- Water based and dries transparent. Clean up with soap and water. The base coat is milky looking and turns transparent on drying. Will remain tacky to touch on drying though. Apply the top coat, once the base coat looks transparent. The top coat dries completely non tacky and transparent cracks are formed as it dries. The cracks have to be highlighted with metallic wax of desired colour.

-The size of cracks depends on thickness of base and top coats of crackle medium. Apply thick coats for larger cracks and vice versa.

-One step can be used as a background for Decoupage however 2 step can be done on a decoupaged surface.

-Yes, it is important to varnish your artwork to protect it. You need to wait for 24 hours after you fill the cracks.
9. What to use to fill the cracks?
-To fill the cracks you can use pigment, distress inks or chalk ink pads, oil based paints or metallic wax. Work in small portions at a time and gently wipe off excess with a dry cloth or tissue.
